First Trackday Orientation (FTO)

This 1/2 day orientation is required if your APEX trackday is your first time on a track. However, the orientation is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Please check to see what is required at the track you plan to ride.

Our goal is to get riders new to the trackday experience comfortably up to speed quickly and safely. The track is a unique setting with it's own set of rules and expectations.

Some people are scared or nervous, some may be too excited, a few may be unreasonably overconfident or even arrogant, and most folks need some additional safety instruction on their first day at the track. Every new trackday rider should have at least one or two questions; hence the orientation.

The "A" group will take to the track first. During their track session, we hold a class session for new track riders detailing various procedures to follow throughout the day. In the subsequent class sessions we reinforce some basic riding skills that will help to keep the trackday safe for you and your fellow riders. By noon you'll be prepared to enjoy the rest of the trackday at your own pace.

The class sessions explore two topics: track specific behaviors and basic safe riding skills. Neither topic is rocket surgery (or brain science). The basic riding skills we review can vastly improve your riding ability rather quickly. You will have heard or read much of it before in which case your patience with us is appreciated.

This is not a race school. However, the safety skills we introduce are second nature to every good racer or rider and a great place to start.

Everything you learn at the track has street applications and your overall riding skills will improve tremendously. But our main goal with the orientation is to make every new trackday rider comfortable and safe on the track.
